In 1855, residents of an exclusive Victorian neighborhood decided they wanted a private path to access their little town – one that only ran underground.

Unfortunately, the tunnel never came to fruition for practical use thanks to an engineering error. But today, it’s passageway is still hidden underneath the city…almost completely intact.

In the 19th century, the Duke of Portland recognized that the middle class was growing to a sizeable number and saw an opportunity to help establish a new residential development for them to inhabit – one where they could grow into a community with a voice in society. To the west of the area, his architectural competition Watson Fothergill and T.C. Hine had been busy rapidly industrializing the area known as “The Park,” which featured many impressive residences. The Duke was ready to make a contribution of his own.

He commissioned Hine to excavate a tunnel underneath the city, making the most of the soft and crumbly sandstone substrate. The end result would be a grand and impressive approach to the wealthy new neighborhood from Derby Road, the main city path. With an incline of 1 in 14 along the tunnel’s length, the heavy horse-drawn carriages would have room to pass through. But something was miscalculated – and after lots of hard work, the incline was only 1 in 12. That made it too steep for even the strongest horses to haul a carriage. As a result, the tunnel was abandoned.

As quickly as possible, construction began on an alternative entrance road for The Park, and the tunnel was left to be reclaimed by nature. But that hasn’t stopped locals from using it for their own purposes, and over time, it transformed into a magnificent subterranean footpath. Its steep Victorian staircases and crumbly sides are kept intact by high brickwork – and the magic of the 350-foot-long passage lives on under the many footsteps of the present.

On the other hand, the jury in Texas seems to have given a really cool and apt punishment for this offender. At least he will have enough to think about when he is in prison.

All courtroom dramas have one thing in common – A lawyer asking their client to shut up and let them do the talking so that they do not mess things up. But this client seems to be so full of guilt that they could not give his lawyer a win no matter how good she was.

After making a great case, he convicted himself by apologising. No wonder she threw all her papers at him. Her frustration seems justified.

Women have taken the blame for men committing crimes for a long time. However, blaming a child, who is only 10 years old, is beyond ridiculous. How can he even think about saying what he said?

Also, what did he think would happen after blaming the child? He deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison. At least, all other children on this planet will be protected from him.

This guy seems to have ignored it all and landed with a conviction. He seems like the kind of guy who would also do his own carpentry and live in a very messy house.

It could all have been an easy battle but some people just like to complicate things. These are people who usually label their relationship status as ‘It’s Complicated’ because they just cannot do things in a simple manner.

Wonder what happened to this guy. He just got himself convicted by wearing clothes he wore at the scene of the crime. The jury would be unwise to not have him convicted.

You know what is worse than a person committing a crime? The criminal acting like they were the victim. This is where the lawyer steps up and speaks on their behalf so that they do not end up uttering some nonsense. But this person couldn’t not just apologize and get away with a slap on the hand.

Hopefully, this person will spend enough time in prison to reflect on his actions. Besides, if he really thinks he did not wrong, he is better off in prison.

Here is another person who also did not watch any series where people wear court-appropriate clothing to influence a ruling in their favor. It seems like they are asking to be put into jail.

However, if they do not understand that driving while under the influence is wrong, then they do need to spend some time in prison and know better. Also, it was just bad luck that the judge was in a bad mood too.

People say ‘Silence is Golden’ and it is true. Sometimes, staying silent can get you out of a lot of trouble. Take this DUI case for instance. Had the accused shut his mouth and just listened to his lawyer, he would not have had to spend 180 days in jail.

But some people just prefer learning the hard way. This judge seems to have made the right decision of sending him back to the slammer.

Whether it is stupidity or overconfidence, no one can tell. This thug had the audacity to show up in the judge’s stolen suit. To top it, he even confessed that it was stolen, that too from a judge’s house.

If this person was not a criminal, they should definitely consider being a motivational speaker and teaching people how to have more confidence. They would do very well for sure and it would be legal too.

It looks like she is still not over her ex-husband or she probably thought that even if she got caught, he would just let her off easy. She may have taken him for granted. It is evident now why the writer of this post may have wanted to separate from her, in the first place.

You cannot use another person’s social security number, especially after you have separated from them. No wonder the judge tore her apart.

When things seem too easy is when they are about to go terribly wrong. This case here for instance is one such example. It was an open and shut case and like the lawyer said – an easy win. All his client had to do was follow the instructions of his lawyer.

The landlord not having an attorney was also a plus point. But the client had other plans and things clearly went south fast.

It was just this guy’s luck, who was charged with drunken driving, that he ended up facing the same judge. You may be able to fool a person once, but if you try to pull the same thing again, no judge is going buy it.

You remember when you were in school and the teacher asked a question, the ones who knew the answer would shoot up their hands waiting for the teacher to pick them? This dude must have been one of them, except he did not know the right answer.

People who do substance are a nuisance to society and should not be let off with probation anyway. Bet this guy will not feel so dope in prison.

(IANAL is I am not a lawyer.) This is a hilarious case. However, it seems like the father already knew that this would happen and gave his son his own name on purpose. Either that or he had a time travel machine and saw the future.

So, for everyone who thinks that all fathers put their children ahead of them, here is proof that not all fathers do that. Sad, but true.

British Gas seemed to have messed with the wrong grandparents by taking them to court. They constantly received receipt from this company. However, the couple has done their bit by repeatedly informing BG that they did not have their connection.

But they have clearly fallen on deaf ears. Now, this Grandpa simply stated his case and enjoyed a day in court. He will have an interesting story to tell the world.

It is surprising to see how criminals manage to be so confident and convincing about not committing a crime even when they are caught doing one. This guy clearly did not expect to have his photo sourced from anywhere.

It is like they say in every movie – There is no perfect crime. Don’t you already feel better knowing that yet another criminal is now behind bars? We sure do.

Some people are the worst, especially those who think they can get away with anything. So, when such people are actually punished for their behavior and are schooled by higher authorities, it just feels like all is well in the world again.

To be asked to shut up by the Supreme Court is just downright insulting and it serves him right. He might just have to change his profession now.

When someone passes away, people swarm like bees to know what they are entitled to receive from the will of the deceased person. This happens even when the toxic people in the family do not deserve to receive anything. Not even a single penny.

The movie Knives Out is also a beautiful depiction of this example, when people are written out of the will. Furthermore, why should an abusive partner get anything at all?

Racism, in any form, should never be tolerated. Also, which era are these people still living in to be making discriminations? It is sad that such mentality still exists in this day and age.

At the time where the world is trying to unite, people like this set the pace many steps back. And, it looks like this person’s racism is so deeply ingrained that they ended up convicting themselves.

Of all the people to sue, she chose to sue a lawyer. And that too her own lawyers! What was she even thinking? She should have at least thought that if a particular lawyer is defending you, they will literally know everything about you.

The moral of the story is that you should honor your contracts. If you plan on suing your lawyers because you did something wrong, you will definitely not be scot free.

There was no actual proof. The criminals were almost scot free. You could say that it was almost a perfect crime. But there is always one person who cannot keep his mouth shut and ended up incriminating himself.

If that is what they intended to do then why did they bother hiring lawyers in the first place? Maybe this one guy wanted to save his comrades. But had he kept his mouth shut, all three of them would have walked out as free men.

Children are the responsibility of children because they are the ones that bring them to this world. But there are some brats who are so entitled that they turn into ungrateful little jerks.

This girl is definitely one of them and this judge’s verdict is the best one. Pick on your parents, shame on you; pick on a judge, be prepared for the worst. It is time for this girl to grown up.

Dealing with your Ex’s new partner is never easy, especially when you have not found yourself a partner as well. Heated exchanges and threats are a common occurrence. This Mom also seemed to really dislike her husband’s new partner that she got into trouble for actually confessing to what she actually meant to say.

However, you can never be too sure if the Mom was actually serious about her threat or not. Better safe than sorry.

It is best to stay away from such a parent. Looks like the Dad made the right choice by divorcing such a person. The daughter will hardly have a good upbringing around such a vindictive person.

When you are not a good driver, road raging is the last thing you should indulge in. This lady thought that by demonstrating her actions, the judge would go easy on her. Clearly that is not what happened here.

And it does not even seem like she understands what she did wrong. It makes you wonder how some people can be so clueless. Surely, she should know what she did wrong.

There are times when some lawyers have the best tricks up their sleeves. This lawyer was a smart one and made sure that his client had an upper hand all through the trial. Wonder where he got his information from.

A private investigator or cameras installed in the wife’s room? Or is he a lawyer like the fictional Perry Mason? The other lawyer surely would not have expected such an outcome.

Greed is a terrible thing. It makes you do horrible things. For example, these two siblings preferred to have money over the life of their own sister, who was fighting cancer. Some people do not get along, yes, but these two acted very inhumanely.

The poor sister only needed money to pay for her treatment. This lawyer did the right thing by quitting. Some things are just more important than money.

You cannot control people’s action. You can only tell them what to do and then it is up to them whether they wish to listen or not.

It was a similar case for this NYTransit attorney, who knew that telling them not to go to trial would have fallen on deaf ears. If only this poor woman did not have such greedy lawyers, she would have had some money for herself.

You know that wonderful feeling when you know someone is lying to you and can prove it but they think that they can easily fool you? It just puts a smile on your face and convinces you that you will have a peaceful sleep.

This cheating wife thought she could get away with everything until her husband pulled out the binder full of proof. She definitely would not have expected that to happen.

It is amazing when things work in your favor. For instance, this lawyer got his client the truck as well as a two year restraining order from her abusive partner. Hopefully, this woman will be able to live in peace for a while.

As for this punk, who just confessed to have tricked the poor woman into marrying him while he was already married, he deserves to be in jail, so that he cannot harm any other woman, ever again.

When justice prevails, it is always a moment of happiness. And that is just what happened with these kind people who got what was theirs. It did not take the judge more than an hour to see the whole picture and make a decision on the judgment.

The judge denied the greedy woman access to the estate. It was never her right to begin with. It might be time for her to get a job and take care of herself.

A lot of people actually think that they are above the law and that is so not cool. Whom is the law for? Anyway, it is the lawyers who have to deal with people like this on a regular basis when they have to make an appearance in court.

This paralegal seems exasperated about dealing with such people. And who wouldn’t be? But the world is full of weirdoes who do dumb things every now and then.

It is simple. You live in a house, you play the rent for that house and then you continue living in this house. The whole world understands this. It is not very complicated. But some people want to spend their money on other things but rent.

So, they want to continue living in a house when they won’t even pay the rent but rather spend on frivolous lawsuits. Maybe if they just paid their rent on time like everyone else, everyone would just be happy.

This judge seems to create more problems than solutions. It looks like there was absolutely no fault of the Dad or the police officer. And the funny thing is that she is the one who arrived late and accuses the other two of wasting her time. What a hypocrite!

It seems like this judge was often in the news for similar issues and for being a terrible judge. If she is not a good judge, why does she still have a job as one?

Maybe he was trying to be romantic by shielding his partner but in the process, admitted his crime. His lawyer facepalming must have been super funny to watch though. If it was in the recording, you can only imagine how loud it must have been.

If you are wondering how a judge could be eating up all that the college kid was throwing at him, you must not forget that judges are human too. It is natural to feel pity for a kid who made a mistake and had his whole life ahead of him.
