Have you ever wanted to travel across the States taking in all the best of the all-American destinations along the way? Now could be your chance thanks to Randy Olson who has created a road trip that touches all 48 continental states along the way.
The road trip starts on the West Coast with the Grand Canyon before wiggling through Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah, and Craters of the Moon in Idaho. The section continues with a drive to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, paving the way for a visit to Pikes Peak in Colorado, and Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico.
It’s time to head south as the next stage takes us through Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Virginia. Incredibly, some of the many stops along the way include visits to The Alamo, Toltec Mounds, Lost World Caverns, and Mount Vernon to name just a few.
Heading north means we get to travel through Washington, D.C., Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. This part of the route is filled with sights that include the White House, the Statue of Liberty, Mount Washington Hotel, and Shelburne Farms before heading back to Central America.
Heading through Central America includes a wiggly route that takes drivers through Michigan onto Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota, and finally South Dakota. All 13 stops give us a chance to take in sights such as Abraham Lincoln’s Home, Gateway Arch, Fox Theater, Fort Snelling and even Mount Rushmore.
The final leg of the journey takes us back to the West Coast where we travel from Montana to Washington, Oregon, California, and finish up in Nevada. As well as seeing the Glacier National Park, anyone following this route can enjoy the likes of the Hanford Site, San Francisco cable cars, the San Andreas Fault, and Hoover Dam.
Nine days of solid driving, or a three-month trip, is all anyone needs to enjoy the ultimate all-American road trip that will see you wiggle across the country one state at a time taking in some of the best of what’s on offer across this great nation.
